Samsung has finally revealed their new Galaxy XR headset. The headset uses Google’s android XR operating system Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform.

The Galaxy XR headset costs costs $1800, which is nearly half the price of Apple’s Vision Pros. The headset has a micro OLED display with 27 million pixels, whereas Vision Pros have 21 million and its resolution is 3,552 x 3,840. With a 90 hz refresh rate, the Galaxy XR features two high resolution pass through cameras six world-facing tracking cameras, and four eye-tracking cameras.

It weighs only 545 grams, while the Vision Pro weighs 800 grams. Therefore Samsung’s headset is better in almost every aspect.
Many streaming Apps have been optimized for the XR so users can stream content on the 4K micro OLED screen.

Samsung says that the headset has a lightweight design and is good for daily use. It features many experiences created for the XR like Youtube, Google Maps, and circle to search. Gemini makes it possible to navigate to places on Google Maps in immersive 3D maps. Even normal 2D images can be brought to life by making them 3D.
