Microsoft (MSFT) is upgrading Windows 11 by introducing AI to make the technology accessible to the massive user base.
The firm said, the enhancements will turn each Windows 11 PC to an AI PC – allow voice chat via Windows Copilot and will let the bot see what’s on your monitor and do what you say.
The company is positioning its advertising campaign behind the slogan “Meet the computer you can talk to.”
Microsoft is introducing its voice chat capability, dubbed Copilot Voice, alongside Windows’ biggest redesign.
“It’s going to be a game-changer like the mouse and keyboard to bring PCs to the mainstream,” said Microsoft Executive Yusuf Mehdi.
You can now say “Hey, Copilot,” and enter what you want. The company pairs this with Copilot Vision, where the bot will search through on-screen material to get more information. Microsoft pointed out that this needs your acknowledgment. Copilot Voice and Copilot Vision team up perfectly. One example ad is where you can ask about the microphone on the streamer’s system. It will check the mic and let you know the make and model and where to buy.
The software does more with applications. One advertisement depicts a user seeking advice from Copilot on how to enhance the quality of Spotify’s sound. Copilot guides her on the stream quality setting and recommends “lossless” sound.
Microsoft demonstrates its Copilot Actions component, available now in preview. This universal agent enables you to manage files on your PC, including flipping through images and erasing duplicates.
Microsoft claims that Copilot operates safely and details each step and waits to allow you to take control. Copilot Actions will be turned off by default.
If you find talking to your computer uncomfortable in public settings such as an office or coffee shop, you can input your request on Copilot and it will respond on writing.
